Doing what other Industries do

Why are we still doing this in the built environment?

Why do we still bundle technology into buildings and facilities and consider the job done once we've ticked the systems integration box?

Intelligent buildings have moved well beyond just automation and interoperability.

Today we need to be delivering operational intelligence that enables better decisions and better business outcomes for owners, occupiers and operators.

That means we have to start somewhere different.

We need to map the business processes they perform, identify the information they need to make decisions and design how that information and data flows across the enterprise.

Systems integration is still essential. But integrating systems doesn't automatically deliver accurate and timely information.

This is an enterprise architecture, information management and data management challenge.

Other industries have been designing information around business outcomes for years.

Yet, why are we still largely settling for systems integration as the finish line?
